The Buying Guide
Size
A 30–32" grill covers most couples and small families. 36" is the sweet spot for most backyards — room for burgers, sides and a warming zone. 42" and larger is for people who host often or want separate cooking zones. Remember the grill must fit your island cutout, so measure before you buy.
Natural gas vs propane
If your home has a gas line near the patio, natural gas means you never swap tanks. Propane works anywhere and is easy to start with. Grills are built for one or the other, so choose the version that matches your setup.
Features worth knowing
A rotisserie with a back burner roasts whole chickens and prime rib evenly. An infrared sear burner reaches very high heat for steakhouse crusts. Interior and knob lights help when grilling after sunset, and a smoker box adds wood-smoke flavor without a separate smoker.
